you find that in games like Diablo2, and XCOM2. one example of a fantastic implementation of perma-death, is the hardcore toggle. the devs can make any type of game that they want, and probably for each person who finds perma-death to be a turn-off (like me), there's another person who finds it to be a turn-on. 'Risk of Rain' 1 was probably the last perma-death game that I really enjoyed, and that was many years ago. i don't get the infatuation of so many devs making their games have perma-death for the past few years, but yeah, I usually pass on perma-death games.
